Comparatives and Superlatives are special forms of adjectives used to compare two or more things. Comparatives in English are formed by adding words such as "more," "less," and "better" before an adjective, and then adding the word "than" after the adjective. To compare two objects of the same equivalence, use "as" before and after the adjective. Examples: Edward is more skilled than Alphonse. Deryn is less lazy than Alek. Kurt is as popular as Logan.
In Spanish, comparatives can be formed by adding "tan" or "tanto" before an adjective and "como" after the adjective to express two equivalent objects."Tan"..."como" means as....as, while "tanto"..."como" means "as much"..."as" or "as many"..."as. "Tanto" compares amounts. With "más" and "menos", the following "que+noun" is optional, but it is required with "tan" and "tantos." You can also use "tener" to express posession when comparing amounts. Examples: Natsu es más atrevido (que Lucy). Natsu is more daring (than Lucy). Haruhi es menos rico (que Tamaki). Haruhi is less rich (than Tamaki). Sebatian es tan guapo como Pluto. Sebastian is as handsome as Pluto. Tengo tanto dinero como Reno.
Practice(Translate): Daisuke is stronger than Riku. Kikyo is older than Kagome. Feliciano is as tall as Lovino.
Superlatives: Superlatives show the most superior one out of two or more objects. Examples: Chell es la persona más inteligentede todos. Chell is the most intelligent person of all.
Nora Grey es la baja de todos. Nora Grey is the shortest of all.
Percy es el más valiente de todo. Percy is the bravest of all. Practice(Translate): Shiki is the prettiest of all.
Angel is the youngest of all.
Tamani is the strongest of all.
Irregulars: Bueno and malo (better and worse) have irregular comparative and superlative forms. Comparative (Bueno) : mejor(es). Superlative (Bueno) : lo(s)/la(s) mejores. Comparative (Malo) : peor(es). Superlative (Malo) : lo(s)/la(s) peor(es)
